PDE in DMB 2011-12
PCS have received a great deal of enquiries regarding the situation with PDEs in DMB. I am in correspondence with DMB; however a number of the main DMB leads are currently on leave. I am meeting with the DMB Industrial Relations lead this afternoon and will update members later today following that meeting. I understand that in some areas managers are stating that PDEs will be imposed if members refuse to sign up to the generic PDE produced by DMB. |
There are a number of serious concerns with the generic PDE not least of which is the commitment to adhere to HMRC’s Absence Policy, which members will be aware is the subject of an ongoing dispute. Members will remember the difficulties which arose regarding PDEs in DMB last year and a number of briefings were issued at the time by Hector Wesley the PCS Assistant Group Secretary with responsibility for DMB last year. The main advice was included in BB/253/10 and BB/284/10. The advice contained in those briefings still applies and members have the right to decide for themselves whether or not to agree a PDE. Any member who is not willing to sign their PDE should utilise the disagreement procedure in the event of the PDE being imposed. |
